Dr. Charles has over 33 years of clinical experience in the fields of Functional Neurology & Functional Medicine. Functional neurology focuses primarily on the brain and nervous system, which is considered the “master system” of the body since it controls and coordinates every cell, tissue, gland, and organ within the body.

The foundation of Functional Neurology is promoting balance, or homeostasis, within the nervous system through brain-based plasticity. Therefore, a balanced brain is followed by balanced bodily system function. To promoting neuro-plasticity we activate receptors of joints/muscles (proprioceptive), visual, auditory, and/or vestibular responses. Cortical and cerebellar based procedures may also be required to promote plasticity.

Preventive health measures are instrumental in optimizing health to the fullest. Rather than treat end-stage disease, which is costly and more difficult to reverse, special attention is devoted to observing underlying factors of clinical disease through bio residence treating, if indicated. As such, Dr. Charles’ training includes a focus of disease prevention through Field Control Therapy, a functional laboratory work up, and microbiome (gut bacteria) assessment.

Dr. Charles is also interested in the relationship of electromagnetic fields (EMF’s), radiation, radon, chemical sensitivity, metal toxicity, mold/fungal toxicity and how they relate to the functioning patient.
